The A-Team's Mr T To Be Inducted Into WWE Hall Of Fame
Will the wrestler-turned-actor finally accept the honour...?
Actor and former wrestler Mr T will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, TMZ is reporting.
Mr T played – and won – the first ever WrestleMania event in 1985. He teamed up with Hulk Hogan to beat Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff, although he nearly walked out of the match before it even began after his entourage weren’t allowed into the building by security.
“His WWE appearances were instrumental in helping to establish WrestleMania as the pop-culture phenomenon it is today,” WWE CEO Vince McMahon said.
However, the star – whose full name is Laurence Tureaud - is best known for his acting career, which includes roles in Rocky III and 1980s television series The A-Team.
WWE had previously tried to induct Mr T into their Hall of Fame in 2009 but he famously refused because US baseball player Pete Rose – who took part in WrestleMania XXIV - was also being inducted.
"WWE asked me to be in the Hall of Fame and I turned it down. You know why? They put Pete Rose in the wrestling Hall of Fame. This guy can't even get into his own Hall of Fame,” Mr T said at the time.
