This weekend, MTV hosted Europe’s brashest and most bonkers awards show, featuring some of biggest pop stars in the world.

Bruno Mars brought his stellar dance moves, DNCE channelled Kanye and performed atop a floating stage, Shawn Mendes brought tears to everyone’s eyes when he played the piano during ‘Mercy’, Zara Larsson lost her trousers, Green Day dissed Donald Trump, The Weeknd performed ‘Starboy’ in a frickin’ space dome AND MORE.

Artists protest against Donald Trump

Earlier this week, Donald Trump, property magnate and reality TV star, was elected as president of the USA. The election result has provoked protests across America, most of which have beenpeaceful.

Many musicians and artists have joined anti-Trump marches to protests against an openly racist and misogynistic individual, who has never held public office, being elected as the most powerful politician in the world.

Chief amongst those artists has been Lady Gaga, who has been using social media to remind people that “Love Trumps Hate”.

Leonard Cohen has died at the age of 82

Leonard Cohen, the legendary and hugely influential singer, songwriter and poet, has died at the age of 82.

Cohen’s career spanned nearly 50 years. The Canadian is regarded as one of the all-time great songwriters.His death was announced via an official statement on his Facebook page.

"It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away," the statement read. "We have lost one of music's most revered and prolific visionaries. A memorial will take place in Los Angeles at a later date. The family requests privacy during their time of grief."

‘Soundbreaking’, a new documentary series chronicling the stories behind some of the greatest recordings ever made, has released a trailer featuring Bon Iver and St. Vincent. Check it below.

The full series will air on November 14 in the US. Other artists scheduled to take part include Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John and more.
