2016 MTV Movie Awards: 6 Behind-The-Scenes Secrets You Won't See On TV
Yes, that is Ariana Grande photobombing us...
The 2016 MTV Movie Awards are HUGE. Like, 'Bigger-Than-Dwayne-The-Rock-Johnson-Huge'.
But while you'll be able to enjoy its mind-blowing stunts, hilarious skits and bad-ass performances when it airs on TV (The 2016 MTV Movie Awards air Monday, April 11 at 8pm on MTV, Sky channel 126, Virgin channel 134), there are certain secret things you only see when you've smuggled yourself behind the scenes on the Hollywood Warner Bros. lot as crew.
Ariana Grande, The Rock, and Pretty Little Liars secrets as follows...
Even Celebrities Love A Good Photobomb
MTV International teamed up with MTV Australia & New Zealand VJ extraordinaire Krit Schmidt for this year's mega-awards. Thanks to a 6"4' hench frame, easy-going charm and an afro bigger than most labradors, he's quite the 'random' magnet. So it was really no surprise when he bumped into ARIANA GRANDE *hyperventilates* whilst pootling around the Warner Bros lot on a golf buggy.
Breaking onto the Pretty Little Liars & Friends sets is easier than you think
Ok, to be fair, when we say 'breaking onto', we mean 'meandering through'.
The 2016 MTV Movie Awards are being filmed on Hollywood's infamous Warner Bros. lot, home to many amazing TV and film productions, including Pretty Little Liars, Gilmore Girls and more. We spotted PLL's infamous Clock Tower, and even got to wander through a patchy piece of shrubbery which was affectionately used as every Central Park scene you ever saw in Friends. And yes, we did run through it like Phoebe. *flails arms*
We know what The Rock and Kevin Hart NOM in their downtime
Whilst preparing for our behind-the-scenes chat with The Rock, we had a bit of a nosey around the food tent between DJ and Kevin Hart's trailer. Much to our US colleague's consternation, it wasn't a cooler full of cod. What we found instead.... chicken wings and a bucket of candy.
Choreography Rehearsal Happens Everywhere
There we were, watching Halsey's bad-ass rehearsal of her big 'Castle' performance (check out how awesome she looks, wearing this year's must-have fashion combination - bomber jacket and unrivalled sass).
When all of a sudden we looked to our left, into one of the seemingly empty set facades, only to see a crew of dancers busting out some seriously amazing moves in time to Halsey's rehearsal. Amazing.
The Rock is so hench, even chairs are scared
Before the press conference started, two piddly, wobbly high chairs were set-up for Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Kevin Hart to sit on.
The Rock strolled over with a beaming smile on his face, took one look at his bum-warmer and pointed out that because he is BIGGER THAN THE SUN, he would probably need something a little sturdier. Cue stool swap.
Our new life goal is to become an awards show stand-in
Whilst watching the dress rehearsals, we were privy to an array of amazingness. But we had a particular soft spot for the crew who stood-in for each celebrity who had yet to rock up.
From the 5"1' lady pretending to be The Rock to the disinterested sound guy forced to sit in Charlize's Theron's seat, it was pretty much the next best thing to the real Awards Show.
