MTV Movie Awards 2017 Will Include TV Too
Since 1992, MTV’s Movie Awards has been one of the most exciting andoff-the-wall award shows going, but now it’s getting even bigger. As of this year, MTV will honour the world of television, too!
This is the first time in the award show’s '25-year' history that thestars of TV will be taking home one of our iconic popcorn gongs.
"We're living in a golden age of content, and great storytelling and characters resonate regardless of whether you're watching it in a theatre or on TV," Chris McCarthy, president of MTV, said in a statement. "The new 'MTV Movie and TV Awards' will celebrate even more of the brightest, bravest, funniest and most shared films and TV shows resonating across youth culture."
The first MTV Movie & TV Awards will take place Sunday, May 7. Further announcements, including the hosts (last year’s bash was run by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kevin Hart), are still to come.
MTV will also be hosting a Movie & TV festival in the run-up to the show, featuring live performances and more.
