Muhammad Ali Dies Aged 74: Celebrities Pay Tribute
Boxing legend Muhammad Ali has sadly died aged 74, following a 32-year-long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Ali, who won 56 of his 61 fights and was known as ‘The Greatest’, was taken to hospital on Thursday with respiratory difficulties.Celebrities and sports stars around the world have been paying tribute to the icon, who was also a civil rights campaigner and poet, with world champion boxer Floyd Mayweather saying: “There will never be another Muhammad Ali. The black community all around the world, black people all around the world, needed him. He was the voice for us. He's the voice for me to be where I'm at today.”
Friend of Muhammad, George Foreman, said: “Muhammad Ali was one of the greatest human beings I have ever met. No doubt he was one of the best people to have lived in this day and age.”
Sharing a photo of him and the legendary boxer shaking hands on Instagram, David Beckham wrote: “The Greatest there will ever be .... The biggest and the best ..... Rest In Peace”.
Madonna also shared a photo of herself and Muhammad, writing: “This Man. This King. This Hero. This Human! Words cannot express. He shook up the World! God Bless Him.”
Posting a second photo, she added: “What is going on??!! We are losing all of our National Treasures. Our Pillars of Humanity. He was the Greatest!”
Mike Tyson tweeted: "God came for his champion. So long great one. @MuhammadAli #TheGreatest #RIP", while Lionel Ritchie said: "You will always be my hero ... #MuhammadAli".
Vicky Pattison also shared a photo of The Greatest in the boxing ring, writing: "RIP to a very inspirational man and a boxing legend... Muhammad Ali."
