Wet Leg Found It "So Weird" When People Sang Their Songs

With just a few songs under their belt, Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers - aka Wet Leg - have made a name for themselves as one of the next biggest duos in the UK! 

“When we found out that we’d been nominated for MTV PUSH 2022, yeah it was pretty wild. If you'd told 16-year-old us that we were gonna be here right now, yeah, we just wouldn’t have believed you, so strange, so funny, particularly considering the alumni.”

“Wet Leg formed after a summer of playing music together,” they revealed in our exclusive chat. It started out as “a very folk-y project... and just being inspired by all the different music we saw at festivals and thought it was time to try something different.”

When touching on musical highpoints, Wet Leg said: “When we first played on the mainland at Latitude festival for the first time festivals were back after Covid... we thought we might be playing to a couple of people, because we never played away from home and there were a lot of people in the tent and they were all singing 'Chaise Longue' to us. It was so weird.”

You’re gonna have to get used to that ladies! 

The duo also opened up about being hailed as the next big thing: “It's really bizarre - there's so much good music and UK music, like guitar bands as well, it's definitely really flattering to be held highly amongst so many amazing bands that are thriving at the moment. We hope we don’t, I don't know… disappoint.”
