F**k It Friday: Dua Lipa
Celebrating the power of just saying, "you know what!? F**K IT!"
Welcome back to F**k It Friday - a weekly feature from MTV Breaks that’s all about saying a big “f**k yeah” to the most excellent people who’ve said “f**k it” (probably) and taken a leap of faith to make big things happen.
Cos it’s not about just having ideas – it’s about believing in yourself, and making them happen. AMIRIGHT?
MTV Push are all about Dua Lipa this month, and for good reason. She’s churning out the bangers at an almost alarming rate and her forthcoming debut album is going to be HUGE. But people haven’t always believed in her as a musician.
Dua Lipa has known since primary school that she wanted to be a singer after being given a Nelly Furtado album that inspired her, obvs. Her school teacher was having none of it though and told her she couldn’t be in the choir as she couldn’t hit the high notes. From then on she always thought that she couldn’t sing.
Nevertheless, she never gave up on her dream, and when she was living in Kosovo she decided to say “f**k it” (probably), packed her bags and moved to London to peruse music, forgetting all about the haters. She, along with the rest of the world, quickly discovered that not only can she sing, but she sings AMAZINGLY.
If Dua Lipa hadn’t ignored those telling her what she couldn’t do and made the big decision to say “f**k it” (probably), leave her life behind and follow her dream, MTV Push would be a sad and lonely place today! Way to f**k it, Dua!
