Get To Know: Navos
Navos has always wanted to pursue music, but was inspired to make it a reality after seeing Avicii perform in Manchester. After studying sport therapy at university and releasing tracks online, he took the opportunity to fully chase his dream which resulted in him signing to a label.
Inspired by the likes of MK, Armin Van Buuren and Avicii, he went on to release his hit ‘Believe Me’ and remix to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shivers’. With a UK tour with Sigala coming up this autumn, we can’t wait to hear lots of new music in time to see Navos next festival season.
1. For those who don’t know about you and your music, tell us a little bit about who you are and where you’re from…
My full name is Ross Kenneth Anthony Harrington (long name I know lol), I am 22 and live in Rainford, a small village around 30 minutes away from Liverpool, England. I originally went to university to study Sports Therapy and towards the end of my final year, an opportunity arose to pursue my dreams therefore I took it with both hands. Following that, I signed to Island Records and released my record 'Believe Me'.
2. Who/what inspired you to start a career in music?
My family have always been quite musical so I was raised with the sounds of a guitar and started to play from the age five. In 2015, I went to an Avicii concert in Manchester, England and his performance sparked more interest into a career in music. I remember looking at him and thinking in my head “…that’s what I want to do”.
3. Who are your biggest musical influences?
My biggest influences to music would be MK, Sonny Fodera, Avicii and Ed Sheeran ('Shivers' remix out now ;) … lol)
4. Tell us about the writing and recording process of your new release…
For 'You & I' - I was sent the vocals from Harlee’s team and I remember hearing them and thinking to myself “that’s going to be my next record”. I put my own spin on them, sent it back to her and her team. They loved the final idea and the rest is history…
5. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
By far, the best thing that’s happened to me is being contacted by Ed Sheeran’s team with the opportunity to remix his latest number one single ‘Shivers’. This remix is upbeat and typically Navos style. A close second would be signing the record deal back in December 2020 which has been so life-changing and has allowed me to achieve my dream of becoming a musician.
6. Who would you be your dream collaboration and why?
MK - I love his music and has still been the same style for years. Although he must have musical influencers, his style has been so consistent and I really like that.
7. Have you met anyone and been totally starstruck?
I recently went on a writing camp to find I was staying in the same house as Armin Van Buuren which was absolutely crazy to me. I have always really liked his music and will always be classed as a legend in my head.
8. If you could only listen to one song on repeat for the rest of time what would it be and why?
I think it would have to be ‘So Much Better’ by Sandro Cavazza [Avicii Remix]. So much emotion is in the record and he’s a great singer.
9. What’s on your playlists that people wouldn’t expect?
Lil Uzi-Vert XO Tour Life. I’ve always been into rap music and I came across more and more songs within that genre whilst I was at university.
10. What can we expect from your live shows?
Expect the unexpected…
11. Have you got any fun livestreams/online events planned for this year? / When can we see you live?
I start my tour with Sigala in the UK from next weekend which runs for eight weeks. My first show is the 8th October until the end of November which is crazy. It’s going to be so fun playing different cities every weekend and especially those I’ve never been to. Look forward to seeing everyone there.
