MTV PUSH: Noah Cyrus On Hating School, Getting Into Music & Going To Open Mic Nights With Her Dad

“The first song I wrote was for my friend, she was going through a really tough time.”

This month’s MTV PUSH artist is Noah Cyrus, who, as her sister Miley moves into country music (new single 'Malibu' hits on May 11), is picking up where the Bangerz star left off. We’re 'very' excited about this.

‘Make Me (Cry)’ and its various sound effects (rain drops!) was released late last year, and it’s already clocked up over 250 global audio and visual streams. (A.K.A 'a lot'.) Not too bad for your first song, that. “That pop single could definitely have done worse,” someone somewhere could have said.

We caught up with the singer, fresh from performing new single ‘Stay Together’ at The MTV Movie & TV Awards, to talk about finding school tough (“I didn’t get along with people at school”), how Noah got into music (“The first song I wrote was for my friend, she was going through a really tough time”),her very supportive parents (“before I could drive – they would take turns taking me to the studio”), and much more.
