Fantasy Casting The Devil Wears Prada Musical, Because It’s En Route To Broadway!

Who would take on the role of Miranda Priestly if Meryl Streep was unavailable?

Not to overexcite you after the whole Sex And The City 3 trauma, but word on the street is that The Devil Wears Prada is coming to New York’s Broadway, making it our most highly anticipated musical EVER. Well, maybe after Mean Girls.

According to Associated Press, producer Kevin McCollum – the man behind Rent – has partnered with 20th Century Fox to make musicals of two of their most-loved films: Mrs Doubtfire and The Devil Wears Prada.

But would the cast of the movie be up for treading the boards for a musical version? Anne Hathaway has done it for the big screen before, winning an Oscar for her role in Les Miserables, while Emily Blunt did a good turn in Into The Woods. We know they both Lip Sync Battle like bosses, but realistically, could they commit to a stint on Broadway?

The same must obviously be considered of Miranda Priestly herself, Meryl Streep, whose role in 2008’s Mamma Mia! still gets us dancing. So, the question isn’t so much if the ladies have the ability to reprise their roles with added musicality, but if they’d really want to.

While it’s hard to imagine anyone else playing some of our favourite movie characters, we do have a few suggestions, just in case…

Kris Jenner as Miranda Priestly

Remember that episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians when Kris wanted to try out for Broadway? THIS IS HER BIG CHANCE! Plus she's the most feared Momager in all the land and - thanks to model daughter Kendall Jenner - sits front row at all the best fashion shows.

Hailee Steinfeld as Andy Sachs

She might have more style than Sachs, but we're sure Hailee could tone it down a notch, then totally rock that 'new look, new me' montage scene. Plus, she's in Pitch Perfect 2, so we know Steinfeld can sing.

Taylor Swift as Emily

We know what you're thinking: Swifty's too sweet to play Emily! However, if she took on her 'Blank Space' persona, we reckon Taylor would be just one stomach flu away from the part. Plus, she lives locally, so it would be a great way to stay home more after the 1989 tour wraps.

Louis Walsh as Nigel

Part fashion Godfather, part schemer, could Louis Walsh finally showcase his own vocal chops after judging everyone else's? He's going to need something to do if he's not on The X Factor this year.

Harry Styles as Christian

Who better to play the curly-haired bad boy than Harry Styles? It might get a *little* awkward backstage with Swifty, considering he has to get cosy with one of her BFFs, but Taylor's totally over Hazza anyway. Right?
