Christmas Contouring Wins The Crown For Strangest Festive Beauty Trend Of All Time

Bet Kim Kardashian's all over it like Kanye on nude knitwear

2015 might have been the year ofstrobing, My Little Pony hairand over lining your lips, but nowa whole new beauty trend has landed just in time for Christmas.

Just when you thought that nothing could get more bonkers than clown contouring, along comes the festive version to get your face looking chiselled and party-ready, butwith a slightly Christmassy twist.

While using concealer and foundation to draw novelty Christmas doodleson your cheekbones might not sound like the starting point to get a face as sculpted as Kim Kardashian's, after a bit of a blend you'll see these canny makeup artists transform themselves into something ready for the runway.

Whether you're convinced by this one or not, the trend is blowing up on Instagram right now and if you're into your contouring, it's definitely one to try out during party season.

If you want to give it a go but aren't sure exactly where to start, the principles are exactly the same as with a normal contour. You start with your normal foundation blended in as normal, then use a highlighter and a concealer in a slightly darker tone than your usual to shape.

The key areas to think about are your nose, chin, cheekbones and the centre of your forehead. Generally you use the lighter shade in a triangle on your forehead with the point facing down between your eyebrows, and then alsoin the centre of your chin, down the middle of your nose and on the tops of your cheekbones.

The darker shade is then used lightly on the tip of the chin, under the cheekbones and on the sides of the nose.

To give your contour the Christmas treatment, use the colours in the same places but essentially just let your artistic side out and drawChristmassy designs to your heart's content. On Instagrampeople are loving the stars, candy canes and Christmas trees, just in case you're in need of a little inspiration to get you started.
