If You Love Disney & Hot Models, Portis Wasp Is About To Be Your New BFF

The blogger turned Photoshop master talks… well, EVERYTHING, with MTV…

You may recognise the name ‘Portis Wasp’ from his MTV bylines asthe Scottish blogger is a frequent contributor to the site, interviewing everyone from Ruby Rose to Courtney Stodden. However, much more than just a writer, the curly-haired cutie has been grabbing media attention of late for his Disney drizzled collages.

From taking Gigi Hadid to Neverland, to DM-ing with Chrissy Teigen, MTV Stylecaught up with PW about… everything, really.

MTV Style: You’ve become known for your collages, but your blogcame first; tell us when you started it and what the initial aim was?

Portis Wasp: I didn't have a clue what a blog was when I first started mine in 2009, so if you're brave enough to go all the way back and read the first few posts, you'll see that my blog reads like it's had too much to drink and needs to go home. Or maybe that's how it still reads now, I dunno... What it became though was a great place for me to channel my creativity, celebrate some of my favourite things and flirt with some ridiculously good looking people by interviewing them.

MTV Style: What were some of your favourite interviews for the blog?

Portis: I constantly forget who I've interviewed, but Courtney Stodden brought the lolz for sure. I interviewed her twice and she was great! Other faves include Tove Lo, Max Rogers, Ricki Hall, Francois Sagat, Taryn Manning, Rankin, Todd Sanfield, Dionne Bromfield and Ellie Goulding. Ruby Rose is a current fave, but as I interviewed her for MTV, you'll be able to find that one on here somewhere.

MTV Style: When and how did you move into becoming a Photoshop master?

Portis: I used to make trashy collages for my blog, actually, which then lead to me collaborating with a photographer called Scott Teitler. I guess creating collages with his photography was the most logical way that we could work together. Then, late last year, I decided I wanted to stop posting selfies and other non-life changing shizz on my Instagram, so I started to make little collages.

MTV Style: What’s your favourite collage you’ve created so far?

Portis: I don’t know if I can choose between my Joan Smalls or Chrissy Teigen collages! Joan was adorable and reposted the collage on her Instagram, while Chrissy sent me a sweet DM to say thanks for hers, so I think both babes will be joint faves for quite a while.

MTV Style: What is it about the Disney element that you think resonates with so many people?

Portis: I have no idea tbh. I think people respond to seeing something pure mixed with something a little more provocative. I guess for a number of us Disney princes or princesses were our first crushes, so even though it’s a little weird because they’re animations, there may still be an unspoken attraction there? Who knows? For me personally, I’m a fan of the imagery and the colours used in the films more than anything.

MTV Style: You’ve garnered a lot of industry and celebrity attention for your collages. Which of the comments or Instagram hearts have amazed you most?

Portis: I was definitely super chuffed when Katie Grand and Steven Klein each posted my Kylie Jenner collage that I’d made using an image from her shoot in Love magazine! That was cool. Brian Atwood is another who has been super nice and is always leaving me nice comments, as is fashion stylist Carlyne Cerf De Dudzeele. It’s odd to see people like Alan Cumming, Ashish and Neil Barrett like my images! I mean, like, WTF?! But I love it!

MTV Style: Who’s next on your list to Disney-up?

Portis: Well I just made a collage with Gigi, which was long overdue, so that's another supermodel hottie ticked off. I feel like the world could really do with a Lupita collage, so she just needs to hook up with a hot photographer, and I'm there! Also, Zendaya. She's a total babe. Have you seen her Barbie?! They just released pics and it looks so good!

MTV Style: If you were going to collage one Geordie Shore character, who would it be?

Portis: It’s got to be Charlotte, right? I can’t imagine I’d find a Disney animal big enough to cover Gaz’s parsnip or Holly’s double Fs. It’s just a pity Vicki is no longer in the house as my collages are crying out for a little VIP edge.

MTV Style: Which photographers’ work do you enjoy playing with most and why?

Portis: I love me some Steven Klein, so I'll always be excited for new work from him. Also, Scott Teitler, Vijat Mohindra and Mert & Marcus are favourites. who don't seem to mind me ruining all their hard work.

MTV Style: If you were going to collage yourself, which Disney film would you put yourself in?

Portis: Life-Size 2? Haha. Nah, I'd probably collage myself into Beauty and the Beast and tell that fittie Gaston to stop wasting his time chasing Belle. It's obvious she's mental, spending more time with her head in a book than running her hands through that proper manly chest of his. That girl is mad.

MTV Style: Who’s your current favourite…Female model?

Portis: Ana Cleveland. Did you see her dance down the runway during the Moschino show at MFW last week? She’s a proper nut job, but I love her! There are definitely not enough models like her working today.

MTV Style: Male model?

Portis: There's this new American male model called Cole Monahan who I interviewed for my blog a little while back. He’s the one who has that snake from The Jungle Book covering his junk. I also like Walter Savage who is based in NY. He's like 6ft 2” of muscle and hair, and the pics of him in Brian Atwood’s new book Pumped are next level shizz. No country does male supermodels better than the USA.

MTV Style: Fashion designer?

Portis: I should say Marc Jacobs, as I'd quite like an invitation to “try him” on Instagram, but I also wouldn’t say no to anything Sibling at the moment.

MTV Style: Magazine editor?

Portis: Erm, whichever one commissions me next? Let's say Anna Wintour or Dylan Jones, as I’m sure they are both totally reading this, and we should all totally work together on something. Would I like to be a London Collections Men Ambassador?! I dunno, maybe… I do love Prince & Jacob though. They are the fabulous duo behind Galore mag.

MTV Style: Kardashian/Jenner?

Portis: Aww man. This is so tough. I just collaged Kylie for Galore, so I feel like we have a tight connection there, plus her videos with Gigi Gorgeous are hilarious. I feel like if I had to choose one family member to go out for drinks though it would have to be Khloe. She’s the realist and always gives good banter.

MTV Style: What’s next for Portis Wasp?

Portis: Well, I have a new editorial out on Friday in the new issue of Odda, so pick up a copy of that will you please. Over the next few months I will be working on more editorial projects, kicking off my sexy direct message flirtation with MJ on Instagram and slaying anything else that comes my way. I’m not much of a planner, so I’m looking forward to looking surprised a lot. It’s a real cute look on me.
