MAC Makeup Are Making One Huge Change To Their Brushes
Consider this a makeover
If you’re pretty proud of the fact that you could tell the difference between a 219 pencil brush and a 217 blending brush with your eyes closed, then you might wanna listen up.

Other makeup names may have come and gone, but MAC have managed to remain a firm favourite of beauty experts everywhere, standing as an OG brand from way back in the day, right up ’til now in the world of Instagram beauty.
Anyone who declares themselves as an official MAC addict will know that a staple brush collection just isn’t complete without those black handles and silver detailing.
But fans have been left truly shook by some surprise news from the brand this week, after MAC announced that they’re set to make one major change to their entire brush line,
In a step to keep up with the demand for ethical and cruelty free products in the beauty industry, MAC are ditching the use of animal hair in their brushes, and will instead be sticking with 100 per cent synthetic bristles from now on.
While also revealing that there’d be some brand new additions to their brush collection, MAC confirmed in a statement: "Our long-lauded brush line gets treated to a makeover!
“Introducing our 100% synthetic brushes, incorporating the latest innovations in fibre technology for superior performance and improved longevity.
"An S on the handle following the brush number identifies each new and improved replacement."
That’s GREAT news for animal lovers, but anyone who ever puts makeup on their face should be pretty chuffed, too.
Synthetic brushes are actually much more effective with cream formulas and soak up way less product - meaning you won’t need to replace your stuff half as quickly. Result.
For anyone who’s a little concerned about losing their holy grail brush babies, MAC’s Global Senior Artist Dominic Skinner said on Instagram: "So MAC makeup brushes are becoming 100% synthetic with all current MAC brushes converting to man made fibre and new brushes being added to the line up.
“I promise I was very doubtful over them as I love my current MAC brushes, but I have been converted too. They are just as soft and in many cases, softer.”
So there we have it. Keep an eye out for that little silver ’S’.
