Urban Decay Have Started Posting Unretouched Beauty Photos On Instagram And Fans Are Rejoicing

It’s definitely a step in the right direction for the makeup giant.

Urban Decay have won themselves a whole load of new fans recently, after switching up their beauty shots by using unedited images of their models - letting their natural beauty shine through.

Social media is renowned for setting unrealistic expectations of how one should look, but this positive step forward is a definite move towards the brand tearing them standards down.

One photo especially received A LOT of praise, with the cult beauty brand writing: “@lindahallberg’s red smoky eye has us like…”

Buuuut the caption isn’t what’s exciting. What’s exciting is the image. For such a huge brand to post an unretouched photograph of a beauty guru sets a standard that natural beauty is always the most beautiful.

And isn’t that the message that everyone’s been fighting to hear? *elle wood-stylesnaps all round*

Fans of the brand were quick to comment, with one writing: “YES FRECKLES.”

It’s not the only photo posted without edits either, and other people have noticed.

“I enjoy that the recent photos actually show unedited or lightly edited skin,” one person wrote, and TBH so do we.

And the comments keep rolling in, with one follower complimenting the featured beauty guru’s skin, saying: “Shout out to those freckles! I love seeing real skin, don’t get me wrong full coverage is great, but I look at this and I’m like yaas queen that skin is lit.”

Hopefully more makeup giants see the move that Urban Decay are making and follow suit.

Makeup is meant to enhance your natural beauty, and companies sticking to that ideology will be much more empowering for consumers.
