New Mulan Live Action Details: Remake Will Be A “Girly Martial Arts Extravaganza”
But it will have NO songs in it.
While Emma Watson’s new version of Beauty And The Beast is currently wowing audiences at the multiplex, Disney is already looking ahead to its next big-screen remake, with director Nicky Caro divulging what we can expect from her update of Mulan.
“I haven’t started yet so I can’t give you any real detail,” begins the director. “But the budget and the location and the story is offering such scope to me for [an] incredible, muscular piece of girly martial arts extravaganza in China. And I can’t wait.”
Caro’s comments come hot on the heels of the news that the new film won’t be a musical, with fans still gutted not to be hearing, 'I’ll Make A Man Out Of You,' this time around. Still, there’s something pretty badass about the phrase, “muscular piece of girly martial arts”, so we think we can move past it...
For those who don’t remember the first one, Mulan tells the story of a young Chinese girl who disguises herself as a warrior in order to try and save her father’s life. No casting has been revealed for the new version just yet, but we can expect the film to hit cinemas on 2 November 2018.
