Muse: “Reading was so surreal”

The triumphant headliners talk us through their crazy night

Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme has told MTV.co.uk that playing last weekends Reading festival was one of the most surreal experiences of his life.

It was especially weird because it was exactly ten years ago that I saw Rage Against The Machine there and it was one of the most amazing shows Ive seen, he says.

It sounds cheesy but its always been our dream to do the same and at one point I was like, F*cking hell, how did we get here!

Many have said the crowd went more mental for Muse than they did Arctic Monkeys.

"I don't know. There was really positive vibe for everyone out there, I wouldn't have said we blew the crowd away more than anyone else," he says.

He's not sure this means the end of Monkey mania either.

Its hard to tell. Theres always a danger when youre so huge one minute that you might not be the next " but then you could have said that about Coldplay. It could go either way.

With Arctics their first album has been so massive that the weight of expectation on their next one is going to be really heavy.

Weve been lucky weve never been massive so each album has just got gradually better than the last one.

The band might not think theyre massive but the Reading crowd told a different story and at the moment the only way is up. Quite literally!

Chris revealed he has one more surreal ambition he wants to live out.

Id like to go on the first space shuttle to the moon - but I dont know if wed even make the waiting list!

Wouldnt be too sure
