The cover of Muse’s album The Resistance has been named the best music artwork of 2009.

The futuristic design- by La Boca- beat a host of other artists to the ‘Art Vinyl’ prize.

Coming second was the Manic Street Preachers Journal for Plague Lovers, while the cover of Fever Ray’s self titled debut was named third best.

Green Day, Massive Attack, Editors and La Roux also made the Top 10 with their most recent album artwork.

The prize was voted for online and names 50 different releases as having exceptional design last year.

In 2008 the award went to Fleet Foxes.
