Andy C Gears Up For Parklife With This Festival Playlist
In need of some drum & bass this Friday? Who better to pick a playlist for you...
RAM Records head honcho Andy C is hosting his own stage on the Saturday night at this year's Parklife Festival featuring Wilkinson, Jaguar Skills, and Loadstar to name a few, and to celebrate he's put together a playlist of some of the tracks you'll no doubt be losing your sh*t to.
"I can’t wait for it," he said. "It's a f**king incredible festival. Normally I'm up there, I know a few people and I have fun. But the fact that I'm going to be up there partying with the whole crew all day…it's going to be very special.
"There’s something in the water in Manchester, I did the Albert Hall for my all night show in March and it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life, just to see a crowd go nuts all night. I'm sure it wasn’t what I was playing, there’s something in the water, it's brilliant."
Check out his choice tuneage below...
Calyx & Teebee - 'Long Gone'
"I love this track because it's Calyx & Teebee bringing out all of their strengths; they’ve got guitar playing, they’ve got the fantastic singing from Calyx, a bit of double bass in there…it really follows on from where they were on the last EP. It's their new single and it's going to be big."

Mind Vortex - 'Against The Grain'
"This one is from their new EP, I’ve been opening my sets with this for the last couple of months and it is a slammer. I always like to start my sets off with a flyer and this is the perfect track. It smashes it, it tears it up. It's part of a 4 track EP and I think these guys have been at the start of my sets for God knows how long. Really does get the vibes going at the party."

Culture Shock - 'City Lights'
"This is a track that has been around for a little while but once he teamed up with Bryn Christopher and added the vocals on it, it just took on a whole new dimension. It's a beautiful slice of DnB…funk...groove. Imagine the tent full, the lights flashing, everybody grooving."
Deep through the clouds
Keep falling
Feet off the ground
If all you want is fire, fire, fire
Then watch me burn like the city lights
If all you want is fire, fire
Keep watching me
If all you want is fire, fire, fire
Then watch me burn like the city lights
If all you want is fire, fire, fire
Then watch me burn like the city lights
Freefalling
Deep through the clouds
Keep falling
Feet off the ground
Freefalling
Deep through the clouds
Keep falling
Feet off the ground
You better watch me burn
If all you want is fire, fire, fire
Then watch me burn like the city lights
If all you want is fire, fire, fire
Then watch me burn like the city lights
Freefalling
SKT - 'Take Me Away' (Andy C Remix)
"It's a remix I’ve just finished for him and I can’t wait to play it at the festivals. I’ll hopefully be playing it out a lot, I hope people like it. They’ll be starting point. I kind of made it in mind for festival season; the big breakdown with the classic vocal. It's got all the elements of the original but breaking into a drum and bass festival vibe."

DC Breaks - 'If This Is Love'
"Brand new single from the guys and they’re going for the summer vibes. It's one that reminds you of slightly older DnB; it's got acoustic guitar, great singing. This should be one for when the sun’s shining in the field."

Rene LaVice - 'Hot Blooded'
"Just to flip it, this is one for when it's pitch black and you’ve got your head down, all guns blazing, no holds barred. It's brilliant, it's classic Rene. He’s really made a big impact this year with his single, ‘The Calling’ and the numerous remixes he’s just been smashing it with. This is going to be his next single on RAM, it's full on rock DnB and he kills it.
"Here’s ‘The Calling’ while you wait:"

Delta Heavy - 'Tremors'
"The clue’s in the title, this is one you want to slam down at peak time. I like the puck on this one, it's really heavy. I would drop this somewhere near the beginning of the set to get people going.
"It's not out yet but here’s ‘Empire’:"

June Miller - 'Robots and Romans LP'
"I'm going to cheat a bit and pick their whole upcoming album, it is just unbelievable, next level. Every tune is segway-ed into one another so it tells a story, the musicality, the feeling that you get from this album…it really did blow my mind when I first heard it. The guys have spent a long long time on it and it encompasses all sorts of DnB with their real hard edged attitude but also, there’s some beautiful bits of melancholy - just chords, no drums - stuff that makes you think about life a bit. Really, really cool.
"RAM also released ‘Empathy’ last year:"

Wilkinson - 'Hopelessly Coping'
"This is obviously a fantastic track, it's really grown since it's been put out there and it's really got into people’s consciousness. This is just a real big moment in the set, where it gets everybody joining in with the feelings. Much feelings in this track."
And your reputation
Put down your occupation
And your education
I heard what you said
About it be complicated
It ain't simple either way
Yes, a dream will make you pay
Somebody out here counting on you
To break through somehow
Somebody out here counting on you
To break through somehow
Cause you don't even know it
Where are you going?
Or haven't you noticed
You're hopelessly coping?
Settle, settle, settle down
Instead of running, running round
Settle, settle, settle down
Instead of running, running round
Settle, settle, settle down
Instead of running, running round
Settle down instead of
So why play it safe?
What you mean, just in case?
Well of course you might fail
But that's what it takes
Can't run from the doubts
Either way you're gonna struggle
Look in the mirror and now
Then tell yourself it ain't worth the trouble
Somebody out here counting on you
To break through somehow
And you don't even know it
Where are you going?
Or haven't you noticed
You're hopelessly coping?
And you don't even know it
Where are you going?
Or haven't you noticed
You're hopelessly coping?
Settle, settle, settle down
Instead of running, running round
Settle, settle, settle down
Instead of running, running round
Settle, settle, settle down
Instead of running, running round
Settle down instead of
And you don't even know it
Where are you going?
Or haven't you noticed
You're hopelessly coping?
Bensley - 'Next Generation LP'
"We’ve just put this out and I think this guy is such an incredible talent. I think everybody needs to hear this album, appreciate the musicality, the journey, the tunes. This kid’s 19, from Toronto and I really am incredibly proud that we’ve put it out on the label. Amazing music. He’s from a jazz background - classically trained, he can play many instruments - so all his tracks start from a song and a journey, they have a beginning, middle and an end. Even though there’s no vocals, the songs themselves have verses and choruses in their musicality so they all take you on a journey."
