Is Marbella The New Hub For House Music?
R3wire and Varski set their eyes away from Ibiza...
Some think of it as merely a place for sun worshippers sitting poolside in heels and fake eyelashes, yet the beautiful city of Marbella has become a contender as one of the go-to destinations for the new wave of classy clubbers.
With sun-soaked golden beaches, pool party venues that rival that of Ibiza as well as an influx of quality premium clubs, it’s not hard to see why.
Over the past few years, the scene in Marbella has grown, not just in numbers but in maturity too. It has begun to attract quality artists, DJs & brands from across the globe.
Some of the line ups this year include MK, Rudimental, Tough Love, Todd Terry and DJ EZ. Ibiza has long tried to retain a premium stature in an ever growing holiday clubbing market, but with San Antonio and the mass market, it needs to sustain its collection of 5,000+ capacity clubs and it's always going to be difficult to do that. Marbella, on the other hand, can offer this.
The new wave of ‘classy clubbers’ who are carving their own space in the market want something which ticks all the boxes. Without the masses. This is why Marbella is booming. It’s starting to provide the music credibility of Ibiza but with the class of a “West End, London” club.
Marbella’s visitors are looking for a combination of glitz and glam with upfront music and they’re not being disappointed. There are clubs in Marbella providing the perfect setting. They are luxurious, exclusive spots providing panoramic views of the Mediterranean with a young and fashion-loving audience.
One club of note is Aqwa Mist. They manage to bridge the gap between cool, sexy and upfront in one stylish super club.
This year we are fortunate enough to be playing there and we’re really looking forward to it! You can catch us on 19th June 2015 playing at their quality house night, Synchro.
