Drake Has Launched Apple’s New Streaming Service ‘Connect’, Here's 7 Things You Need To Know

Will Drizzy be dropping his new album through the service too?

Drake (June 8) launched Apple’s new streaming service, 'Apple Music Connect', yesterday at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco.

The 'Know Yourself' rapperwas joined by The Weeknd, who performed his new single ‘I Can’t Feel My Face’, in announcing the platform which is set to rival Spotify, as well asJay Z’s 'TIDAL'.

Here are a few things we learned from the launch:

1. Watch Out Jay Z And TIDAL

Hov’s very own service hasn’t had the best start and things look like they'll getworse before they get better for 'TIDAL' following its' backlash.

According to Billboard,Drake was actually a part of the projectbut later dropped out of the March launch.

With Dr. Dre confirmed and Pharrell Williams rumoured to be involved with the 'Apple Music' initiative, Jay-Z could have his work cut out.

2. ZaneIs On Board

As well as 'Connect,' Apple have launched their first ever live radio station…

'Beats 1' is a 24-hour service headed up by Zane Lowe - who left BBC Radio 1 earlier this year to join Apple - andthe station promises exclusive interviews and guest hosts.

3. Expect Drizzy’s New Album To Be Released On Connect

The 28-year-old dropped the biggest hint that his highly anticipated LP,'Views From The 6,'will be launched through the tech giant.

Speaking to an audience at the WWDC event, the Toronto born hitmakerexplained: "The dream of being an artist like myself and connecting directly with an audience has never been more close and reachable than right now."

4. The service will cost $9.99 a month and family options are available

A UK tariff is yet to be announced for the service but is expected to be around £9.99 a month, however,users will get the first three months of their subscription for free.

Apple have also announced that families will be able to sign up for a $14.99 a month package for six people to share. Bargain...

5. The Date Is Set For A June 30 Launch

Subscribers can get there first taste of Connect later this month and the service will beavailable on iOS, OS and Windows, with Android users expected to get their fix this Autumn.

6. It’s Like Twitter And Facebook Rolled Into One

Good news for super social media fans!Apple’s Connect promises to combine Twitter and Facebook with the platform, meaning that artists can share lyrics, backstage photos, videos and more in one place.

So whether you’re a Directioner, Swifty or Sheerio you'll be among the first to know if yourfavourite artist or band havejust dropped a surprise mixtape.

7. Apple Have Hired ‘Experts From Around The World’ To Curate Playlists

Much like Spotify, your music will feature alongside a number of user-generated playlists working together to adapt to your taste.

Siri is also on hand should you need it’s help in making the perfect party album,although it’s unclear if having Drake’s voice is an option... yet!
