Sam Smith Cancels Shows To Have Surgery On Damaged Vocal Cords
The singer broke the bad news to fans on Instagram last night...
Sam Smith has been forced to cancel more tour dates in order for him to undergo surgery on his damaged vocal cords.
In a message to fans on Instagram, the ‘Lay Me Down’ singer broke the news with this lengthy explanation writing: “Bad news. I have my operation booked for next week, so getting really nervous.
"But by doing this in 8 weeks time I'm gonna be able to sing like never before so it's worth it. I am so sorry to all."
He added: “Dreading the next month thou (sic), I can't speak for THREE WEEKS after the op.”
The news means Smith’s shows in Tokyo, The Philippines, France and Monaco have all been scrapped, with his appearance at the Radio 1 Big Weekend on May 23-24 also cancelled.
In a statement, Radio 1 said: "We are really sorry for all the fans who were looking forward to seeing Sam perform live. Everyone at Radio 1 wishes him a speedy recovery."
