OneRepublic formed in 2002 around singer/pianist/producer Ryan Tedder and lead guitarist Zach Filkins, who were later joined by keyboardist Drew Brown, bassist and cellist Brent Kutzle, and drummer Eddie Fisher.
After a false start that saw them signed then dropped by Sony BMG, the band picked up huge MySpace support which drew interest from super producer Timbaland, with whom Tedder had previously worked as a producer and song doctor.
Timbo signed the band to his Mosley Music Group and remixed one of their most promising tracks ‘Apologize’ for inclusion on his own ‘Shock Value’ album.
The track became a huge worldwide smash, and prepared the ground for the boys’ equally massive track ‘Stop And Stare’ and accompanying album Dreaming Out Loud.
Now firmly out of Timbaland’s shadow, OneRepublic are fast becoming one of the biggest bands on the planet, and you can check out exclusive Session versions of five of their tracks – ‘All Fall Down’, ‘Apologize’, ‘Say’, ‘Stop And Stare’ and ‘Tyrant’ – right here, only on MTV.
