We all remember when the last Best Of The Best: UK MCs show premiered in 2010. A group of industry experts in UK music gathered, discussed and compiled a list of the top 10 MCs of that year. Many agreed with the list, others were infuriated, and some even made diss tracks dedicated to our lovely team of panellists. Awww...
The controversial show is returning this year to shine some light on the best MCs that we saw 2011. To add to the anticipation, the show will be split into two parts. MCs number 10 – 6 will be revealed this Friday at 5pm, right here on The Wrap Up! You’ll have to check the telly to see MCs 5 – 1, though. The final part of the show will be aired three days later on Monday 23, 9.30pm, MTV Base.
I can’t wait to see the big debate. It may seem like a fairly easy task, but these guys have to choose their top 10 based on specific criteria, not just on likeability. The panellists will be choosing artists based on who has the biggest buzz, and who has caused the biggest impact on our scene. They will also be looking at who received the most attention from the media due to their talent, who has the best flows and lyrics and which MC is out there setting the trends.
Whether you agree with the final product or not, you can’t knock these guys. MTV have selected real industry experts who know what they are talking about. Okay, let me cut to the chase and answer the question you’re all asking: who’s on the panel?
