Maverick Sabre recently spoke about his debut album, 'The Lonely Are The Brave', and some of the influences behind it. The star told What’s On: "It's funny because soul wasn't what I listened to at first, but your tastes change as you get older. When I was young it was mostly my dad's traditional Irish music and grunge that I listened to. Then when I was 13, someone played me Tupac Shakur, middle of nowhere in Ireland, and my world changed..."
He continued: "I listened to a lot of Bob Dylan so I wanted my songs to tackle subjects like he did. I don't want the songs to sound like I'm preaching; it's just me talking from my heart, exactly as if it would be if you came round to my place for a cup of tea. I'm a little bit nervous and I put a lot of pressure on myself, but I'm more excited than anything, because I want people to hear the songs. It's like the first day at school – some people will hate you, some will love you and some will just be indifferent."
Maverick Sabre's new album, 'The Lonely Are The Brave', is out now.
