MAZ’S WEEKEND WORD: DRAKE SUED? LIL KIM BROKE? JAY-Z TRIES TO SAVE ROCAWEAR, CHRIS BROWN HITS BACK AT GQ

in News

Oh, Drake. The Young Money rapper got hit with a lawsuit last year for using an unauthorised sample in 'Best I Ever Had', and he is now being sued again over his online hit, 'Marvin’s Room'. Ericka Lee, Drizzy’s supposed ex, is suing for her co-writing royalties on the song, claiming the two of them worked on the song together and agreed to split the proceeds...

After the song was created, Lee said that Drake abruptly stopped contact with her. According to TMZ, when she questioned him about her money, he insisted he knew "people" that could take care of "issues like her." Threats, really? Oh, Drake. Nevertheless, Drizzy is overdosed on confidence, as always, with his rep saying: "Drake tried for months to resolve the matter amicably, and he now looks forward to being vindicated in court."

If you thought Drake had it bad, check out what’s been happening with his foe, Lil Kim. After avoiding the tax man for years, it seems he has finally caught up with her. It has been revealed that the rapper owes over a million dollars in taxes and additional money for every year between 2002 – 2009. Unfortunately, she is reportedly broke-to-the-bone. If only she had listened to her fans’ demands and released some new material to gain some capital. Bizarrely, she announced that she had delayed the release of her new material to support Floyd Mayweather after his prison sentencing over domestic battery.  This has led to fans threatening to close her fan site down if she doesn’t “get it together."

Trouble was spotted over in New York when the Rocawear brand, in desperate measures, had to ask Jay-Z for some help. Hova sold the clothing line in 2007 for around £204 million (he’s a business, man) but maintained a stake to keep some control on the business that he started from scratch. Unfortunately, the brand is having such bad financial problems (sales have dipped by $500million) that Jay-Z will be starring in its first-ever TV advert to attract the masses. Jigga has also committed to Rocawear until 2014 in attempt to salvage the brand that launched in 1999. Good luck, Jigga!

Last week, I told how Tinie Tempah was crowned ‘Best Dressed Man’ by GQ, whilst Chris Brown was crowned the, erm, ‘Worst Dressed Man’. Chris just couldn’t stay quiet, and said on his website: "I'm myself at all times. I don't care what the media say, I don't care about s**t, so I just do me. I'm independent, my music, my thought process has brought me where I am. I look at my fashion a lot different, like some days I might feel like dressing like a skater. The clothes don't wear you, you wear the clothes.”
