MCR Frontman Gerard Way Talks About Split

Singer tweets message for fans...

Following the shock announcement at the weekend that My Chemical Romance are splitting up after 12 years together, frontman Gerard Way took to Twitter to post a personal message about the break up.

The message, which is almost 2000 words long, goes into some detail about why the band parted ways.

Beyond any sadness, what I feel the most is pride. twitter.com/gerardway/stat…

He states: “My Chemical Romance had, built within its core, a fail-safe. A doomsday device, should certain events occur or cease occurring, would detonate.
There are many reasons My Chemical Romance ended… I can assure you there was no divorce, argument, failure, accident, villain, or knife in the back that caused this, again this was no one’s fault, and it had been quietly in the works, whether we knew it or not, long before any sensationalism, scandal, or rumor.”
He goes on to thank his bandmates, and ends with the sentiment: “My Chemical Romance is done. But it can never die.
It is alive in me, in the guys, and it is alive inside all of you.
I always knew that, and I think you did too.”
Other rockers also expressed their sadness at MCR’s demise. Jared Leto form 30 Seconds To Mars tweeted: “Our hearts go out to all those who are sad. XO.”

Sorry to hear #MCR broke up. I hope the band + the #killjoys / #MCRmy are all doing ok. Our hearts go out to those who are sad. XO
