Steve Aoki Has Taken My Chemical Romance’s ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ To A Whole New Level With This Remix
We never thought we'd hear this remix...
You know Steve Aoki, arguably the most famous EDM producer the world has ever seen, well he’s decided to take on something we never thought we’d see - a remix of My Chemical Romance’s ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of MCR’s iconic track and to celebrate, Aoki and Gerard Way have paired up to put a very 2016 spin on the decade old track. Take a listen…
Have you come back down to earth yet? Nope, us neither. This isn’t the first time Gerard Way has ventured into the world of electronic music. Those hardcore fans like us will remember his collaboration with Deadmau5 back in 2012 on ‘Professional Griefers’ - yep, an absolute TUNE!
The Aoki remix of ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ was released exclusively through Buzzfeed and the pair sat down with the website to chat about working together.
Luckily, Mr MCR himself, Gerard Way, loved the remix, saying: “You know, when you’ve written a song, sometimes it’s really hard to wrap your brain around what somebody else is doing, or maybe the way that they see the song. But right away, I really loved his remix.”
He continued: “And what I love about it is the sounds are phenomenal, and he’s kept the intensity, and I think in some ways, the purpose of the song.”
It seems as though the love is mutual as Mr Aoki gushed about working with Gerard and being a huge My Chemical Romance fan. He said: “All the great bands, they always have a song that has the weight that “Black Parade” has — this is a song that’s not just representing My Chemical Romance, it represents an entire culture.”
He added: “This is absolutely one of the most important songs of our generation. I’m just happy that the 10-year anniversary came out and I was lucky — honoured — to be able to work on it.”
Oh, you guys! Don’t you just love it when two of your faves hit it off and make great music together?
Apparently there’s more to come as well, as Aoki revealed when asked if they have plans on working together in the future: “We wanna keep people on their toes, but we definitely jumped in the studio together, and you know, we’re gonna start… Whatever we do, we’ll let you know for sure.”
And we’ll be here waiting…
