Need For Speed Movie Gets 2014 Release Date

DreamWorks film adaptation confirmed with Scott Waugh at the helm...

The release date for the film adaptation of Electronic Arts game franchise Need For Speed has been confirmed.

Produced by DreamWorks, the movie is set to hit screens on February 7, 2014, according to Coming Soon.

The website reports that Act of Valor director Scott Waugh will be at the helm for the big-screen version.

While it will not be based on any one specific game from the ultra successful EA series, the film will reportedly stay faithful to the spirit of the video game.

And the movie is expected to pay homage to the classic car movies of the 1970s, with plenty of fast-paced action.

According to Digital Spy, DreamWorks chairman Steven Spielberg recently described the script as 'exhilarating' and said last month that the game "seems to have been made for the movies".

In the meantime, fans of the popular game series will have to make do with the next edition, Need For Speed: Most Wanted, which is due for release on October 30.
