Premiere! Quintino & NERVO Team Up For 'Lost In You'
Listen to their brand new collab together here...
Two forces from the dance world have collided. Dutch DJ Quintino has teamed up with Australian duo NERVO on their brand new single 'Lost In You' and today we're lucky enough to premiere it for them!
For years NERVO have been fixtures on the main stages of some of the world's biggest festivals including Tomorrowland, EDC and Creamfields while Quintino, who was first championed by Laidback Luke and has since worked with the likes of Tiësto and Hardwell, has built his rep to headline status.
Now in this melodic, radio-friendly collaboration the two acts are set to release 'Lost In You' tomorrow and you can hear it playing below. Plus check out our interview with the trio where we talk dream collabs, Snapchat fails and more...
What made you want to team up with each other?
Quintino: I’ve already known the girls for such a long time. We're good friends and I've been playing with the girls ever since we became friends. Whenever we have a gig at the same party or festival we always end up on stage together having a lot of fun. We always wanted to work together and now we finally have 'Lost In You'. It was such a pleasure working with the girls, because we know each other so well we were on the same page straight from the beginning with the track.
NERVO: We have been friends with Quintino for so long and have always spoken about working together. This time we managed to finally do it ! Working with Quintino was easy. We did most of the work remotely so there was a lot of back and forth but it was a fun process.
What can we expect from the music video?
Q: The video will continue where the teaser we recently posted stops. It really was a challenge shooting the video because you expect sun and nice weather in Miami, but on the day we were shooting the video it was just raining so hard.
N: The video was shot in Miami with one of our favourite directors from Finland. The video features a famous Dutch personality (Twan) and it was shot around our NERVOnation party at Miami Music Week. We also get some carpool karaoke scenes in there with us and Quintino, which were heaps of fun to shoot :)
Who else would you dream of collaborating with and why?
Q: Ahh this one is so difficult! There are so many awesome artists I would love to work with. If I had to choose right now it would be Pharrell, Sia or Ellie Goulding.
N: We would love to work Imogen Heap, London Grammar, Black Coffee, Rihanna, Skrillex… Ahh there are so many great artists we would love to work with! We love all the different textures these artists bring!
As DJs you get to travel the world, what’s been the biggest culture shock you’ve experienced?
Q: Going to China for the first time was very different from what I was used to. Certain social media is blocked, the food is very different, it’s extremely busy and some cities are super polluted. I really had to get used to it. But I have to say, I was there last month and at the moment a lot is changing in China and improving a lot.
N: There are certain places in the world that are very different - like Tokyo for example. The food is so so different. The first time we went we felt like we were on a movie set. They have Cat Cafe’s and strange stage shows with robots and screaming Japanese girls. It is a wonderful place.
We remember when a promoter took us out for dinner and they kept ordering more food. We felt rude leaving food so kept eating but in the end we had to say please don’t order anymore food as we had eaten a lot more than usual and were so full. The promoter said he was very shocked at how much we had eaten but in Japanese culture it is polite for the host to keep ordering food until there is food left on the table. There we were thinking if we left food we were being rude lol!
We recently went to Myanmar where men wear the traditional sarongs. That was quite different.
What’s the craziest thing that’s happened during one of your shows?
Q: Well this actually happened last year in the US during Spring Break. We did a show on the beach with about 5,000-6,000 people. The show was supposed to end at 6pm, but almost everyone was still there at 6pm. So the venue decided to just get everyone inside. We ended up continuing the party 'til 11pm. I was also totally in the party with everyone, so at one point I was on stage Snapchatting walking backwards when the stage just stopped... haha so I fell of the stage. I didn’t hurt myself but all together with the vibe at that party it was just one of the craziest shows of 2016.
N: There was a police raid at one of our shows recently. Over 20 policemen came into the club, stopped the music for about 20 minutes to check for fake ID’s.
If you weren’t a DJ(s) what job do you think you’d be doing now?
Q: Soccer player :)
N: Making music.
What’s coming up for you for the rest of 2017?
Q: I just bought a new studio and office space. We are almost finished with the construction. With the new studio there will be more music to be expected than ever before. We just finished the new 'GO HARDER EP' which will be released the coming months. I’m also working on some huge collabs, but I can’t reveal them yet. I'm working on my show, there will be new visuals for example. And last but not least, I'm hoping to finalise my new merchandise line this summer, so a lot of exciting things are coming!
N: We took the beginning of 2017 to work on new music and have been developing a few ideas that we’re super psyched about so our goal is to finish them in the next couple of months before the European summer starts. We will be launching our label - GOT ME BABY! Records so we hope to sign a whole lot of great music in 2017. We have our residencies in Ibiza and Vegas and we’re loving throwing our NERVOnation parties around the world. We’re scheduled to play Tomorrowland mainstage both weekends. We are set and super exited for another big year of touring with a lot of great festivals and club plays and super excited to bring people our new music.
Quintino & NERVO's 'Lost In You' is released on Friday.
