Channing Tatum Has Revealed All About His X-Men: Gambit Movie
Get ready for an origin story, fanboys.
But while we have to wait until October 2016 to see Channing in action as the Southern martial arts bad-ass, he’s been dishing some details about what fans can expect from the X-Men spin-off.
Chatting to Empire about the development of the movie so far, Channing revealed that it WILL be an origin story of sorts, and the first draft of the script is already complete.
He told the magazine: “Josh Zetumer just turned in the first draft of the script, and it’s killer.
“None of us were sure how he was going to deal with the X-Men world, but we’re going to be changing some of the tropes of these movies. It’s always about saving the world (laughs), but maybe we’re going to shift things a little bit.
“There’s so many ways you can take [an origin story]. You could do it like 'Batman Begins', or a different take and go the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' route. All I can say is, I’m super excited.”
The only bad news about getting a Gambit origin story is that this probably rules out a cameo from Channing in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’, which will be released more than four months before ‘Gambit’ hits cinemas.

Still, just hearing how excited Channing is about playing him more than enough makes up for it.
He added about the character: “I love Gambit… I grew up in the South; my father’s from Louisiana.
“He always felt the most real of the X-Men to me. He’s kind of a tortured soul and he’s not a good guy. But he’s not a bad guy, either. He walks his own path. And of course he plays cards and drinks and is a martial-arts badass!”
And a skintight superhero costume would work for us too, just FYI.
