Rumour has it he's the man for the part...
Eddie Redmayne looks set to join the Harry Potter franchise, after being offered the role of Newt Scamander in spinoff film 'Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them'.
According to Variety, the Oscar winner is currently in talks to take on the lead role of the magiczoologist, in what is set to be a trilogy which takes place seven decades prior to Harry Potter.
Set in New York, 'Fantastic Beasts' is based on the Hogwarts textbook of the same name and follows its the life of its author, Newt Scamander.
With the screenplay already written, Harry Potter producer David Heyman has hinted at filming commencing "late summer".
"We're making just one film, but I believe there's been talk about it being three," he added at the time. "But we're just talking about it as one."
While JK Rowling hastened to add that it's not so much a scene-setter for HP, as simply in the same world.
“Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the ‘Harry Potter’ series but an extension of the wizarding world,” Rowling explained.
Either way, we cannot wait!
