Han Solo Movie Casts Its Lando Calrissian And He’ll Get *This* Classic Star Wars Scene

“These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape".

The next Star Wars spin-off after Rogue One has unveiled a major piece of casting news, with Donald Glover confirmed to co-star opposite leading man, Alden Ehrenreich in the upcoming Han Solo movie.

Best known for his TV work on Community, Glover will be playing a young Lando Calrissian, perhaps Han’s only true rival in intergalactic badassery…

The news was confirmed in an official statement from directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller: “We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” said the duo.

“These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”

It has also been confirmed that the new film will finally bring a classic moment in Star Wars lore to the big screen for the very first time, as Lando loses the Millennium Falcon to Han in an ill-advised bet.

Although happily for Glover, his character will at least get to fly it around for a bit first…

The new film has still to receive an official title, but is set to swoop into cinemas on 25 May 2018. In the meantime, we can look forward to Rogue One and Episode VIII, with those films set to drop in December 2016 and December 2017 respectively.
