JJ Abrams Is Working On Another Cloverfield Sequel
The Cloverfield universe is expanding!
After surprising everyone by dropping 10 Cloverfield Lane last year, J.J. Abrams is set to expand his Cloverfield universe still further, with a third film set to land early next year.
It’s called God Particle and filming began back in June of this year, with the project cruising happily under the radar until now…
According to the official synopsis, God Particle will follows a team of astronauts aboard a space station who find themselves marooned in the universe, after a rogue experiment causes earth to “disappear”. They soon encounter another space shuttle, but whether or not the crew are friend or foe remains to be seen.
Just how the new film fits in with the other two remains unclear, although there’s a super-starry cast attached, with Daniel Brühl, Elizabeth Debicki, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Zhang Ziyi, David Oyelowo and Chris O’Dowd all set to appear.
As with the last sequel, Abrams won’t actually be directing, with the producer having handed the reins to Julius Onah.
God Particle will open in the UK on 24 February 2017, and if you’re a fan of the Cloverfield series, there could be even more good news in the pipeline: a Paramount source is reported to have said that if this one is successful, the studio has hopes to release a further sequel each year… monster mayhem for days!
