Justice League Movie Will Introduce A New “Badass” Commissioner Gordon
The new Commissioner Gordon is going to turn tough guy in the new Justice League: Part One movie.
Everybody loves Commissioner Gordon.
Last played on the big screen by Gary Oldman in the Dark Knight trilogy, he’s a capable but cuddly cop, a guy who’s just as happy comforting a newly-orphaned youngster as he is throwing the cuffs on a mafia goon.
However, he’ll apparently be turning tough guy in the new Justice League movie, with J.K. Simmons promising a more “badass” version of the character…
“People of my generation remember Commissioner Gordon as this jolly, ineffectual Santa Claus type,” says Simmons, “and I think over the years in the comics there’s definitely much more of a badass side to him. One of the things that’s interesting to me is investigating hopefully a little bit more of that badass.”
“You’re living in a universe where it’s pretty tough to be a badass compared to somebody like Batman, but in the universe of non-superheroes I like the idea of Commissioner Gordon as a guy that can take care of himself, a guy that’s a real partner to Batman, not just a guy that turns on the bat signal and goes, ‘Help! Help, Batman!’”
Sounds like this new Gordon will be able to keep up with Ben Affleck’s uber-violent Dark Knight, then.
Gotham’s criminal contingent might be in for a rough ride when Justice League: Part One hits cinemas on 17 November 2017.
