Karen Gillan Will Have A “Huge” Role In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

Director James Gunn describes her importance to the new movie as "huge".

Having donned the blue paint for limited screen time in the first movie, Karen Gillan is all set to play a bigger part in 'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2', with director James Gunn describing her importance to the new movie as “huge”.

“Nebula is a huge character in [Guardians 2],” said Gunn as part of a series of updates revealed on his Twitter feed. “[Karen Gillan]has her makeup applied every day of her many days on set.”

Gunn went on to confirm that despite rumours to the contrary, Glenn Close will indeed be reprising her role from the original, while also hinting that the sequel will be a little different in tone from its predecessor.

“I’d say the 1st film is a space opera, not a science fiction film,” says Gunn. “The 2nd movie is a bit more science fiction.”

Needless to say, he didn’t reveal anything too juicy in terms of plot, but by beefing up Gillan’s role as the villainous Nebula, we’d imagine her old man Thanos will have a significant say in things…

We’ll find out for sure when 'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2' opens in the UK on 28 April 2017.
