When it comes to New Year's Eve, it's safe to say that people either love it or hate it.

But despite it being the most stressful and pressure-filled holiday of the year, we all still put ourselves through it every year.

1. When you walk into the club/house party in your fire outfit and people aren’t paying enough attention to you

2. Soon, your friends start questioning your New Year’s resolutions that you already regret making

3. This is how you imagine the strike of midnight is going to go down…

4. As opposed to what *actually* happens

Life isn’t fair.

5. In the end, you scrap the Instagram-perfect kiss in favour of the perfect selfie instead

6. Which, of course, causes your ex to message you out of the blue asking how you are

DAMN THIS EXCELLENT LIGHTING.

7. Next thing you know, it’s 1pm and you wake up looking a little more dishevelled than you’d have liked

8. But instead of shame spiralling, you consider how bad things could’ve been

9. At the end of the day, you’ve made it through yet another NYE experience relatively unscathed, and that’s all that matters
