P Diddy has come under attack from an unexpected source: In Da Club rapper 50 Cent.
Fiddy has lent his support to a Twitter petition, RIP BIG, which accuses Puff of profiting from the death of his friend Notorious B.I.G..
Biggie, born Christopher Wallace, was killed by an unknown shooter in 1997. His death acted as a springboard for Diddy’s career, giving him a worldwide smash hit with I’ll Be Missing You, his tribute to BIG. It was the first rap song to debut at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, a feat not matched until Eminem’s Not Afraid did the same this May, all of 13 years later.
The Twitter petition states "Biggie's name should never have become Diddy's Black Card”, and goes on to ask, “When was the last time Diddy really was biggin up his brother, not biggin up his bank?"
Not one to keep his vitriol virtual however, 50 Cent let rip on Diddy live on-air on Eminem’s Shade 45 radio station, saying, "He will suck the life out of everyone he is around.”
"You know how an ugly b**ch surrounds herself with pretty girls? Well, he is the pretty b**ch with the other girls around him.” 50 Cent then added that Diddy’s music “sucks”, but as he is “not an artist anyway… it doesn't really matter”.
"When you think about it, is he a rapper? Because he says he doesn't write rhymes, he writes cheques."
P Diddy's label, Bad Boy Records, has released two posthumous Biggie albums since his death. But it was the recent track by Jay Electronica featuring Diddy, Ghost Of Christopher Wallace, that annoyed 50 Cent most. "This is just getting disrespectful," the rapper said. "This doesn't really remind me of Biggie in any way, except for having the Puffy background dancing and ad libs/intro that almost destroy a good song."
