Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden and her newborn daughter reportedly almost died after she was admitted to hospital earlier this week.

According to The Sun, the 40-year old fought for her life for three days after giving birth to the baby - named Hollie Rose - after she was rushed into intensive care.

Hollie Rose was also put on a respirator, as reports claim that Holden was in a 'critical condition' after bleeding heavily and collapsing after the birth.

A source told the tabloid: "Amanda lost several pints of blood and had to have a number of transfusions. Hollie could not breathe.

"For a while both were fighting for life. Thankfully Hollie is now out of the woods and Amanda is recovering too."

They continued: "It was touch and go. Amanda was very, very ill for three days and the doctors were extremely concerned for her.

"But she is a fighter and very strong-willed. She's come through this and is delighted to see Hollie Rose so beautiful and healthy."

Holden's spokeswoman Alison Griffin has now confirmed that the actress in a stable condition, stating: "Hollie Rose Hughes was born on 23 January 2012. She is healthy and weighed in at 6.1lb but Amanda has been in a critical condition for the past three days.

"She is now stable and we expect her to make a full recovery very soon. Until Amanda is in a position to indicate what she wants to say, there's no more information I can give. We thank you for respecting their privacy at this time."

Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan have already tweeted their congratulations, with a rep from BGT saying: "We extend our congratulations to Amanda and Chris on the birth of Hollie and wish Amanda a speedy recovery. We look forward to her returning to Britain's Got Talent very soon."

The former Shrek: The Musical star, who suffered a stillbirth in 2011, was overjoyed to announce last summer that she was expecting her second daughter with hubby Chris Hughes. The couple already have a five-year old called Lexi.
