With the American Idol final close upon us, Simon Cowell has revealed to chat-show queen Oprah who he is backing to be crowned the winner of this years contest.

 

It’s unlike Simon to be nice, but he has had nothing but good things to say about this year’s favourite, Adam Lambert.

 

Talking on the Oprah Winfrey Show last night, Cowell revealed to Winfrey why he is backing the alternative rocker claiming: “I think he's got that 'it.' And I think he's fearless. I think he's unique. And he's got swagger."

 

His recent comments echo those that he made on the Ellen DeGeneres Show last week when Cowell stated: “"If it was me, based on originality and worldwide appeal, I would say Adam (should win). He's unique. I like the fact he's fearless. He's not playing it safe.”

 

The X Factor judge added: “A lot of the people that take part in these shows want to sing 'Wind Beneath My Wings' every week because it's a sappy song. He's got guts."

 

It seems Lambert has got Cowell on side, now he just needs the votes!

 

The American Idol final is on next Wednesday in the US.
