American Idol Top Three Perform

They need to impress in the final week…

The final three contestants in American Idol 2009 performed on the show last night hoping to impress judges and the public before next week’s final.

This week’s theme was ‘Judge’s choice/ contestants choice’ meaning they each got to pick a track for the trio to sing.

Danny Gokey opened the show with a version of Terrence Trent D’Arby’s Dance Little Sister picked by Paula Abdul. Later he sung an acoustic version of Joe Cocker’s You Are So Beautiful.

Kris Allen sang One Republic’s Apologize picked for him by Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi. His own choice was a version of Kanye West’s Heartless which Jackson said was “better than the original.”

And Simon Cowell picked U2 track One for his favouite Adam Lambert. The judge also explained he got personal permission to use the song from Bono. He then covered Aerosmith’s Cryin.

The final of the competition takes place next week on May 19 and 20.
