Kris Allen Wins American Idol
Outsider beats Adam Lambert in finale...

Kris Allen has been crowned the winner of American Idol 2009.
The 23 year old from Jacksonville has beat Simon Cowell’s favourite Adam Lambert in the finale of Season 8 last night.
Despite being known as the obvious underdog in the top 2, close to one hundred million people chose Allen as their Idol in a final that has been described as the closest yet.
In true American Idol style, the finale was packed with a range of musical performances including 17 year old finalist Alison Iraheta deuting with music heavy weights Rod Stewart, Lionel Ritchie and Cyndi Lauper to The Black Eyed Peas, Jason Mraz and last years champ David Cook performing live.
Both acts gave it their all in the two hour final showdown which saw Lambert clad in black leather joining rock legends KISS on stage.
Kris was accompanied by country singer Keith Urban for a rendition of Kiss A Girl.
After Ryan Seacrest made the announcement, Allen claimed: “Are you serious? I’m sorry; I don’t even know what to feel right now. This is crazy!”
Kris will now release the winners single No Boundaries and will work with Idol judge, songwriter Kara DioGuardi.
