Amy Winehouse has been booed at a concert in Belgrade.
The BBC reports the star appeared to be “too drunk to perform” and “mumbled her way through parts of songs” at the open-air concert in the city’s sixth-century Kalemegdan fortress.
Not only that, but she was reportedly an hour late to the stage and at one point threw her microphone on the floor. She also twice walked off stage, leaving her band to carry on without her.
A large number of the 20,000-strong crowd began booing the star when it became obvious she was not capable of performing. Afterwards fans spoke to reporters of their anger. "I paid my weekly salary, 38 euros, for this concert and I knew of her troubles, but the organisers should have cancelled it to let us, her fans, remember the real Amy,” one concert-goer said.
It was the first date on Amy’s European tour, which also includes shows in Spain, Switzerland and Italy. She is due to play Istanbul tomorrow night, 20 June.
The Love Is A Losing Game star recently completed a week-long rehab programme in London to help overcome her alcohol addiction, and was under strict instructions not to drink anything on tour.
Her long-awaited album, the follow-up to Back To Black, is nearing completion.
