Arctic Monkeys will make their live return by headlining the Reading and Leeds festivals this August.

The Sheffield band are the first act announced for the event- which takes place on August 28-30.

Later on today organisers will reveal the other two headliners and more bands set to play both sites which host the festival.

Arctic Monkeys have recently been playing gigs and festivals in Australia and debuting tracks from their third album.

They’ve been recording the follow up to Favourite Worst Nightmare with Queens Of The Stone Age man Josh Homme.

Some tickets for Reading/Leeds will go on sale straight after the acts are announced tonight.
