Batman director Christopher Nolan has allegedly been asked to edit the voice of Tom Hardy's villain Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.
Throughout Nolan's final Cape Crusader flick, Bane wears a mask which makes his speech muffled - leaving Warner Bros worried viewers won't be able to understand him.
During a preview of the film's six-minute prologue last week, many critics addressed the sound quality of Bane's voice, reporting that it's difficult to understand Hardy's dialogue as Batman's ruthless enemy.
A source close to the production has since revealed that Warner Bros are aware of the sound issues, saying that they are "scared to death about the Bane problem."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nolan has responded to the request to alter the sound mix on Bane's voice, but has only agreed to tweak it slightly rather than make any drastic changes.
An executive stated: "Chris wants the audience to catch up and participate rather than push everything at them. He doesn't dumb things down. You've got to pedal faster to keep up."
Earlier this week, a new theatrical trailer of The Dark Knight Rises premiered, showing Bane attacking Gotham City.
Hardy, Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway star in the eagerly-anticipated flick - which is set to hit cinemas on 20th July 2012.
