OutKast’s Big Boi Arrested On Drugs Charges

The rapper is caught with ecstasy pills, MDMA and Viagra…

Big Boi has been arrested and charged with drug possession after being apprehended in Miami.

The OutKast star was detained on 6 August after sniffer dogs targeted him as he was leaving a cruise ship, following a boating holiday in the Caribbean.

The rapper, real name Antwan Patton, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance – ecstasy pills, MDMA and Viagra – along with one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $16,000. After posting bail Big Boi celebrated his release with a tweet: "Fresh out, baby!"

His attorney issued the following statement shortly after the arrest, predicting the star would be cleared of all charges: "While Big Boi was travelling with his group and friends, a small amount of contraband was found in the collective luggage. I am confident when the entire facts are aired Big Boi will be completely exonerated."

The Way You Move hitmaker had been using the holiday to write new material for his follow-up album to last year’s Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. He had recently tweeted: “The energy from the ocean is proving to be great for writing.”
