Bloc Party's Surprise Single

Unexpectedly the band are back with a cracking new track

Bloc Party have announced that theyll release a surprise new single Mercury on August 11.

After a mystery countdown on their website the band gave MTV Two presenter Zane Lowe the first play on his radio show last night.

The song reminds us of TV On The Radio with its overlapping vocals and thumping kick drum.

Bloc Party are currently working with producers Paul Epworth and Jacknife Lee on their third album which could be out this year.

Singer Kele told Zane: "We're in the middle of it. We're still writing and working on it so it's quite hard to have an overview really. We are making the record I always wanted us to make so we just can't wait for it to be done."
