Blur have confirmed details of their one-off single release this Saturday April 17.

The track is called Fool’s Day and label Parlophone will release a limited edition run of 1000 7”vinyl.

The band are releasing the track to mark Record Store Day- which promotes independent record shops.

It’s thought Blur hit the studio in the last month for the first time since 2003 to record the new single.

Singer Damon Albarn said: "We want independent record stores to continue - they're an important part of our musical culture. Music is a simple way for Blur to show our support and we hope people like it.”

Selected shops will each get a handful of the singles to sell.

Pure Groove in London has thought of an anti-eBay way to get the track to the right people.  They’ll hold a Blur quiz to find the biggest fans of the group- with the winners receiving the 7”.

Hot Chip and Lily Allen will also release limited edition vinyl to mark the occasion.
