Boyzone’s new album benefited from a Mother’s Day bounce as it beat Gorillaz' Plastic Beach to the top of the official UK Album Chart.

Brother is the boyband’s first album in twelve years and since the death of member Stephen Gately.

Gorillaz new record has had a massive amount of promotion- and features artists including Mos Def, De La Soul, Kano, Bashy, Gruff Rhys and Lou Reed.

It was also number one in the midweek chart but Boyzone’s record was clearly a present for a lot of lucky mothers yesterday.

New album’s from Amy MacDonald and the cast of new musical Love Never Dies also entered the Top 10.

Ellie Goulding’s debut album- which was number one last week- dropped to number 16.
