Brad Pitt has admitted that he plans to marry long-term girlfriend Angelina Jolie in the near future.

The Moneyball actor, who started dating Jolie after starring alongside her in 2005 flick Mr & Mrs Smith, claims that he finds it "ludicrous" not to make a commitment to the person he loves.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Brad revealed: "We'd actually like to [get married] and it seems to mean more and more to our kids.

"We made this declaration some time ago that we weren't going to do it till everyone can. But I don't think we'll be able to hold out,"

Pitt continued: "It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment. I'm not going to go any further.

"But to be in love with someone and be raising a family with someone and want to make that commitment and not be able to is ludicrous, just ludicrous."

Amid reports that Angelina is pregnant with their seventh child, the 48-year old confessed that he would not rule out the possibility of expanding their family further.

Pitt explained: "We haven't closed the book on it. There's a really nice balance in the house right now, but if we see the need and get that lightning bolt that says, 'We can help this person; we could do something here,' then absolutely,"

The couple have been plagued by marriage rumours, with Us Weekly reporting last July that they were planning to tie the knot in an "intimate and informal" ceremony.

Brad has previously been married to actress Jennifer Aniston, while 36-year old Jolie was hitched to Billy Bob Thornton but divorced him back in 2003.
