New Year is depressing enough anyway without every magazine, radio show and TV channel shoving down your throat who they tell you who are going to be the biggest act of the year... yawn.

Last year you guys voted in droves with your hearts and fingers, and crowned Little Boots your top-tip for 2009 with a whopping 40% of the vote!
Our music boffins are currently debating which acts will make this year's list, so in the meantime let's take a look back at last year's expertly (and not so expertly) chosen crop of artists...

The unrivalled global pop success of 2009 – MILLIONS of albums sold and showing no signs of stopping yet. Enough said.
Aussie born Merriweather reached number 2 in the UK albums chart, celebrate a DOUBLE PLATINUM album and had two top 10 singles with Red and Change. Good man.
The West London indie outfit won a string of awards in 2009 and their debut album To Lose My Life shot straight to number 1. Success in the USA followed and they’re going to have a big year at the festivals in 2010.

After the internet sensation that was HYPNTZ, Dan made 'one to watch' lists aplenty. Looks like we were all wrong.
Despite high praise from the legendary Zane Lowe, Middle Class Rut failed to make much of an impact in 2009. We hear the debut album is coming very soon though so keep your eyes peeled and check out our awesome live session.
